We’ve covered the OpenOffice built-in save as PDF feature — well, Microsoft also have one — it’s an add-in which is compatible with Microsoft Office 2007.

The Winhelponline Blog has more detail about how it operates…

Ever wanted to create PDF files but don’t have a PDF writer application installed in your system? Microsoft has released a free Office 2007 Add-In named “Save as PDF or XPS Add-In” that allows you save files in PDF or XPS format from Office 2007 applications.

As the blog mentions, if you don’t have Office 2007, then you will need a PDF writer of some description (of which there is an abundance).
